As soon as people hear the term low carb they either get scared or rejoice at the sound of the words. Breakfast is the perfect time to limit the amount of carbohydrates you are putting into your body (dependant upon whether you are training or not) and get a healthy dose of protein and fats. Carbohydrates can spike blood sugar levels, leading to a rise in energy levels followed by a sharp drop which will leave you feeling lethargic and tired (this is why we are very much against your normal supermarket breakfast cereals).
Our recipes are already relatively low in carbohydrates and now we have put together 5 tasty low carb breakfasts as well. Not only are they good for you but they will give you enough energy to tackle anything the day may throw at you.
Shakshuka – this egg dish in a flavoursome fiery tomato sauce is something you have to try. Low in carbs but high in healthy fats and protein this breakfast won’t leave you feeling hungry for more. Recipe here.
Blueberry & banana buckwheat pancakes – this breakfast allows you to still enjoy pancakes while remaining gluten free without sacrificing any of the tastiness of normal pancakes. Recipe here.
Baked avocado and eggs – a powerhouse breakfast filled with protein. Recipe here.
Chia seed breakfast bowl – if you aren’t a big fan of a cooked breakfast this tasty bowl of goodness will be more than enough to fill you up. Perfect for vegans too. Recipe here.
Avocado salmon wrap – this breakfast is easy to prepare and best of all you can start the day with lots of healthy fats which will maintain your energy a lot longer than normal cereals. No need for a recipe here, simply fry the salmon for 5 minutes on each side. Use a fork to pull apart the salmon into large flaked chunks. Scoop out the avocado into lettuce leaves and add the salmon. Season with salt and pepper and add a squeeze of lemon juice to flavour. Delicious.
