We launched our family recipes in November last year, to ensure we were delivering against our mission to make healthy eating easy for everyone – including families.
We’ve had some great feedback so far and it’s amazing to hear that not only is the new family recipe box making cooking healthy dishes easier, but it’s also inspiring your children to get involved with cooking too!
From personal experience – Founder Myles knows it can be a challenge getting your children to eat, let alone eat something nutritious. So, below he shares his tips on cooking for a family.
1. Cook from scratch where possible
That way you know exactly what’s going onto your plates and can avoid any unhealthy ingredients. Need a hand? Try our new Family recipe box. We deliver all the ingredients you need, pre-measured and ready to cook delicious dinners your whole family will love.
2. Involve your kids
Children are more likely to be adventurous eaters if you involve them in the cooking process; whether that’s helping stir the salsa, roll the meatballs or cook a meal completely solo. Why not get them involved with picking the recipes too?
3. Be creative with veg
We love using innovative ways to include vegetables in our meals, from crisp lettuce tacos to baked sweet potato fries. If you’re unsure, go steady at first. Next time you make a classic bolognese, try grating courgette and carrot into the mince for an added boost.
4. Eat together
Children learn by example, so if they see you enjoying a meal, they’re more likely to give it a go. Even if you prefer a later dinner time, sitting with them as they eat and creating a regular mealtime can be beneficial.
