With work parties, Christmas drinks and family reunions, the festive season can be quite a busy one. In between drinks, long meals and biscuits, it’s fairly easy to lose track of ourselves, and our skin and looks may take a toll. If you want to enjoy the season and still look on point, here are five of Cornerstone's, convenient men’s shaving subscription London startup, top tips to look sharp over Christmas:

Eat better, feel better, look better

Your diet is key. Feel good and you’ll look good too. Keep a balanced diet that will keep your skin looking vibrant and fresh so you have to spend less time on your morning routine. Too much or too little of certain foods can cause all sorts of problems for your body, and your skin is no different. We all love Christmas pudding, so even though you’ll want to have your fair share of them - don’t over indulge. Splash out whilst catching up with friends, but balance it out with a healthy meal the next day.

Stay active

As much we all want to go for those Christmas biscuits over the holidays, we should all aim to stay fit at the same time. Even if you don’t go to the gym everyday, try going to a group class or for a run a few times a week. There’s no excuse if you’re going away either, you can always pack a pair of trainers with you. Going to a new city? Take the opportunity to run around your new surroundings and get to know the area better!

Groom properly

In between mince pies and christmas sandwiches, you still have to take care of your morning routine. A dull razor is a no. One thing you clearly don’t need for your work Christmas party is razor burn and skin irritation. Invest in a good razor and skin care routine, such as Cornerstone’s, that will give you the convenience of having your shaving supplies delivered so dull razors should be something of the past.

Shaving against the grain is another big no. You might think it will give you a closer shave, but that’s just a myth. In the old days when razors weren’t as sharp as they are today (at least as sharp as Cornerstone’s), shaving against the grain was the norm. With technological advances, today’s blades are much sharper so you can go with the grain and still have a great, smooth shave - without the razor bumps!

Don't wash your hair every day

Overwashing your hair can lead to dry scalp and dry hair, so unless you really need to wash your hair daily, our advice would be to only wash it around 4 times a week. Not only is this better for your hair, but it's also one less thing to do every morning. If your hair is feeling a little lacklustre, use a bottle of flat beer as a conditioner. Let it sit for a few minutes, rinse off and you'll be ready to tackle the day - and no, your hair won't be smelling of beer.

Hydrate

You may go a bit overboard with the mulled wine, so to ensure you look on point the next day, water is key. But your throat isn’t the only part of your body yearning for some hydration after a big night out. Your face will dry up and become red and puffy after drinking alcohol, so water seems like a good idea to minimise that. Remember that anything between 1.5 and 2 litres is a safe bet. If you want to go the extra mile, use ice cubes or chamomile tea bags around your eye area to help keep any swelling at bay.
