Having grown up in Australia I might be a little biased, but Sydney really is one of the best cities in the world. With so many beautiful beaches & incredible sights, amazing food & the best weather what’s not to love? If you’re planning a trip any time soon here are my favourite places you can’t miss out on.
You really can’t beat the great outdoors when it comes to exercising in Sydney and one of my favourite coastal walks has to be the Bondi to Bronte. It’s the best route to run along and you can even stop off at beaches for a little swim along the way. Not to be missed!
Why not swim in a Sydney institution? The famous Bondi Baths at Bondi Icebergs have been a landmark of Bondi beach for over 100 years (you’ve probably seen it all over Instagram!) at the south end of Bondi beach. Not only does it have incredible views but it’s the perfect place to do lengths!
Fancy trying a workout indoors? Check out F45 Bondi Beach. You might have seen F45 popping up around the UK but it was actually started in Australia! F45 is a 45 minute class of functional group training with each day of the week split between cardio and strength days. You can buy a week long pass, perfect to get a sweat on whilst you’re on holiday! Plus it’s only a 5 minute walk from Bondi Beach - perfect for a post class cool down.
Imagine if you could catch a ferry to work every day in the sunshine across Sydney harbour? Live like a local and pretend that you can! The Manly ferry goes from Manly to Sydney and is a great way to see the delights of Sydney harbour.
Once you get into the city the bridge climb might be high on your list but unless you’re willing to fork out a lot of cash it’s pretty expensive. Instead of climbing though you can walk along the bridge at the pedestrian level and you still get some pretty amazing views! Jump straight off the Manly ferry and get walking!
Sydney really is the home of the healthy breakfast - with acai bowls & avocado toast absolutely everywhere! There are almost too many breakfast/brunch places but one of my favourites has to be Harry’s Bondi. They’ve got everything from hotcakes to fritters & falafels and the classic eggs - here you’ll find the most Instagrammable breakfasts in town.
Drakes is another favourite for breakfast, with delicious, seasonal produce & some amazing flavour combinations - make sure to try their chilled watermelon with strawberries, basil, vanilla & yoghurt!
If you happen to be in Bondi on a Saturday you can’t miss the Bondi Markets. There every Saturday morning you’ll find some incredible foods - everything from homemade Bondi coconut yogurt to sushi wraps, fritters, pastries & more. A favourite with locals & a great way to try some tasty treats!
Poke seems to be one of the biggest food trends in the world at the moment and Sydney is certainly no exception. Head to Fishbowl Sashimi in Bondi for the perfect summer lunch & a break from that midday heat.
Fancy trying somewhere special for dinner? Sydney is home to some incredible restaurants with amazing, locally sourced seafood & seasonal produce. My favourites have to be Chiswick in Woollhara (where a lot of the produce is grown in the garden of the restaurant) or Saint Peter in Paddington if you’re looking to try some incredible fish & seafood.
