Over the next 10 weeks we are teaming up with the Bloodwise Blenheim Palace Triathlon to offer guidance on the best possible way to prepare for the race. Take a look at our special Triathlon box to get competitors ready for the big day.
Making sure you eat the right types of food can make or break your triathlon goals. What you eat while you're training is just as important as how hard you're training.
Here are our top 3 tips to get you to race day in the best condition possible.
- Immediately following training (within 30 minutes) you should ingest 1g of carbohydrate per kilogram of bodyweight. This will help maximise the resynthesis of muscle and liver glycogen.
- Drink lots of water. A well hydrated body will be able to combat muscular and cardiovascular fatigue a lot more effectively.
- Recovery is as important as training itself. This can come in several forms: nutritional, physiological, neurological and psychological. If nutritional fix with food and drink. If physiological treat with recovery methods such as ice baths, foam rollers and sleep.
The Bloodwise Blenheim Palace Triathlon is the second largest in the UK and raises money to fight against blood cancer. It really is a fantastic cause and with both Sprint and Super Sprint distances this event caters for both elites and beginners.
